Ibn Taymiyyahs Essay On Servitude
OL1 1HH

An enlightening book written by one of the most famous scholars of Islaam on the important subject of servitude. In this book Shaykh-ul-Islaam defines the concept of worship in Islaam and explains that to be a true 'slave of Allaah' is a status of both virtue and nobility. The author proves that the title 'slave of Allaah' is one of great honour which Allaah bestowed upon the best of creation, Muhammad. While elaborating on the issue of servitude, the author highlights the prevalent traps which people fall into, when becoming enslaved by, or allowing their hearts to become attached to wordly objects. The emphasis is on servitude to Allaah which is adorned with the true love we hold for Him in our hearts - a matter of central importance for every Muslim.

The Journey Of The Strangers
OL1 1HH

In this age of materialism, consumerism and extreme liberalism, the Muslim often finds himself at a loss, at odds to the ebb and flow of society, and holding to values, divinely revealed, that contrast starkly with the values held by many around him. He or she is looked at askance, accused of being backward, non-conformist and refusing to integrate. In the face of peer pressure, the resolve of some may weaken, the result being a watering-down of one's adherence to Islam and the values it calls to. The Prophet warned us that a time would come in which Islam and the Muslims would be beheld as strangers, not just by non-Muslims but by many Muslims as well! He informed us that days were coming in which trying to keep hold of one's religion would be like holding red hot coals, and he stressed the paramount importance of holding fast to Islam in its pristine purity during that time, stating that this, and only this, was the path to success in this life and the next. This book is a compilation of two tracts which explain the hadith, 'Islam began as something strange and it will return to being strange just as it began, so tuba for the strangers!' It is hoped that it will be a source of comfort and inspiration for the Muslim who is striving to follow Islam at a time when the Muslim could well feel alienated and alone in the world. The first is a treatise penned by the great Imam, Al-Ajurri, a scholar known for his deep knowledge and piety, his quality being recognised by all. The second is a monograph written by the Imam, Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali, a scholar praised extensively for his vast knowledge, ascetism and expertise in the Hanbali school of thought. The Key To Paradise
OL1 1HH

When the Messenger of Allah was sent to the polytheists to call to this statement, 'None has that right to be worshiped save Allah,' that understood something from it that made them reject it, opposed the Messenger, and all those who believed in it. What was this understanding? Was it the understanding that Allah existed and was One? They already believed in this. They believed that He was the Creator, Nourisher, Sustainer, in His hands was the control of all affairs, and in His hands was life and death. It was said to al-Hasan, 'People say that whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped,' shall enter Paradise.' He said, 'Whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped save Allah,' and fulfills its obligations and meets its requirements shall enter Paradise.' Wahb ibn Munabbih was asked, 'Is not the testification that "none has the right to be worshipped save Allah" the key to Paradise?' He replied, 'Of course, but every key has its teeth: if you bring a key that has teeth, the door shall open; but if not, it will not.' My brothers! Strive, today, to your utmost in actualizing Tawhid, for nothing else can take you to Allah. Be desirous for establishing its rights for nothing else will save you from the punishment of Allah. The testification of Tawhid has many great benefit, it is not possible to enumerate them all, however, the author mentions fifty-five benefits of it. This small treatise deals with the correct and accurate meaning of the testification of Tawhid and with an extremely beneficial appendix - The Types of Hearts - by al-Hafiz ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

The Heavenly Dispute
OL1 1HH

Dar as-Sunnah are honoured to bring another classical work of Imam Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab in the English language. It is an important commentary on the noble hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) that was recorded in the collection of Sunan Tirmidhi relating the dispute among the chief angels of the Highest Heaven. The dispute arose about deeds that expiate sin and raise a person's rank in the Hereafter. The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said of this hadith, "Indeed, it is the truth, so study and learn it." Therefore it is necessary for every Muslim to take extra keen interest in learning its lessons, understanding its values and applying its highly prized recommendations. The esteemed author beautifully explains the hadith in details and highlights the importance of enacting righteous deeds by which Allah wipes out with them, sins and wrongdoings, while elevating a person to higher degrees on the Day of Judgment. The hadith also comprises great supplications that the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) was given in the lofty encounter with his lord; all of which occurred when he all of a sudden felt drowsy until asleep overtook him during the night prayer. He additionally discuses concepts of dreams and miracles, the excellence of ablution and performing it well, performing prayer in congregation, the night prayer, walking to the Masjid, feeding the poor and one's neighbours, right etiquette in speaking, having humility and contentment, enjoining the love of Allah and increasing it for purpose of drawing closer to Him. This work motivates people to go beyond fulfilling their roles as Muslims by not taking seemingly smaller actions for granted. The spiritual dimension to these actions will add to the aspirations in our increased servitude to Allah. Every Muslim is therefore, in need of this precious advice that aims to leave a lasting positive impact on all those who come to embrace its contents.

Obstacles In The Path Of Seeking Knowledge

Obstacles In the Path of Seeking Knowledge This concise collection of words discusses some of the obstacles that confront the student of knowledge on his continuing path towards acquiring beneficial knowledge with further explanation and clarification. I have presented this advice in the form of obstacles so that it would be more likely for them to be avoided and stronger in terms of the warnings regarding them since contained in these obstacles are things that guide towards avoiding them and help to eliminate them. I have repeatedly cited narrations of the pious predecessors that are related to these obstacles so that the reader can establish a link to them and take from their biographies a personal methodology since they were more guided and more mindful of Allah. Az-Zuhri said Yunus ibn Yazid: “Do not look down upon knowledge since knowledge consists of valleys. So whatever you take from it, let it be a significant portion before you convey it. Confession Of Sins

”This entire collection is the subject of Hadrat Muslihul Ummat’s rahimahullāh talks which he presented in Ramadān al-Mubārak 1383 A.H. It was collated by Hadrat Maulānā ‛Abd ar-Rahmān Sāhib Jāmī rahimahullāh in a systematic manner and took the shape of a book. Before this – in Ramadān al-Mubārak 1382 A.H., Hadrat had presented talks on the recitation of the Qur’ān. This unworthy servant arranged all these talks in a particular sequence and read every letter of this collection to Hadrat Muslihul Ummat rahimahullāh. Gardens Of Purification

In today’s turbo-charged world, in which the pace of life is accelerating at a dizzying pace, very little time is spent reflecting upon the real purpose of man's existence. Instead, the main goals of life are the fulfilment of carnal desires and the accumulation of material goods of no real substance for a trifling period of time, at the expense of following Divine guidance. The overwhelming prevalence of greed and vice is what destroyed the nations before and is an ominous sign that the Last Hour is drawing near. Despite living longer, people spend less and less time attending to their spiritual needs, choosing instead to focus their attention on the myriad distractions made possible by fast-evolving technology. Beguiled by the false allure of this world the souls become diseased and ultimately die. The dead soul is heedless of its real purpose and oblivious of the inevitable meeting with its Maker; our great King Allah, the Most High. Those who wish to lead a spiritual life are in the minority. Thus it is incumbent for the seekers of Allah’s Pleasure to follow the correct path, lest their efforts are rendered worthless. This book will Insha’Allah aid the noble reader to awaken one’s soul to its true purpose and follow the straight path of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw), the best man to walk this earth, the finest of all examples and the most beloved to Allah – whose spirituality, character, morals and ethics are unquestionable. This work by Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah is of great importance. It covers many topics in relation to Spirituality, Paths of Asceticism, Purifying the Self, Conditioning the Heart, Symptoms and Remedies, Beauty of Patience, Pardoning and Avoidance.

Difference Between Advising And Shaming
OL1 1HH

In this notable work, the renowned author provides essential detail in discussing key points dealing with differences that arise between the People of Sunnah, and the manners and etiquette one should acquire when differing occurs. He beautifully illustrates the difference between advising that is encouraged, and shaming that is not permitted - two topics that often become tangled and misunderstood. The author thus explains the characteristics of sincere advice and censure with a depth of clarity that will no doubt bring benefit to all, particularly those involved in active da'wah. This work also lays down some guiding principles when preparing criticisms and refutations. It makes clear that such ideal precepts apply to People of Sunnah; and as far as the People of Innovation and desires are concerned, then these principles do not apply to them. This is because the former group is recognised for following the truth, being merciful to the creation and desiring for them guidance, reform and all kinds of goodness. They never intend any harm, but rather make falsehood known by stemming ignorance through reasoning and dialogue in clarifying the truth - they enjoin the good and forbid the evil and strive in making the Word of allah uppermost. Dr. Salih ibn Sa`d al-Suhaymi provides beneficial commentary for the important points covered in this book, bringing greater relevancy to our modern context
